Austin police are probing the city’s first homicide of the year after a fatal incident at a West Anderson Lane party early Thursday, FOX 7 reported. According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded around 1:30 a.m. to a disturbance call at a strip mall. “At approximately 1:28 this morning Austin 911 received a call of a disturbance at a party that was taking place somewhere here in the strip mall here,” said Corporal Matthew Norweiler.
When officers arrived, they found a victim with trauma to the chest; despite CPR, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the incident appears isolated, with no current threat to the public. Details about the victim, the cause of death, or potential suspects have not been released, and no one is in custody. APD confirmed witnesses were present at the party, but it remains unclear how much information investigators have obtained.
