Houston Police K-9 Returns Home To Partner After Being Stabbed

A Houston Police K-9 named Nate safely returned home last week after being stabbed over the weekend.

Ryan Mitchell Smith, 26, stabbed Nate during a foot pursuit, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Police responded to an attempted carjacking in the 800 block of Memorial Heights Drive. Authorities found Smith in an apartment parking garage in the 1600 block of Bass Street. Officers deployed Nate in the ensuing foot pursuit, during which he was stabbed.

Nate received emergency care at a veterinary center and returned home to his partner shortly after.

Ralph Manginello, Smith’s Lawer, had no comments to share regarding the charges filed against his client.

Online court records show Smith has made bond.
