Texas GOP Far Right Rally to Air “Grievances” Sees Familiar Faces

Over a hundred people gathered outside of Dallas City Hall on Saturday to take part in a Texas GOP rally to voice opinions on issues like abortion, religious freedom, gun rights, and President Trump’s false fraud claims about winning the election.

As the Dallas Morning News reported, speakers included “former state Sen. Don Huffines, Pastor Stephen Broden of Fair Park Bible Church and Shelley Luther, the Dallas salon owner and Texas Senate candidate who faces a Dec. 19 runoff against fellow Republican Drew Springer in a special election to fill Pat Fallon’s unexpired term.”

Owen Shroyer, a host of the infowars.com broadcast “The War Room” also spoke on Saturday and in an apparent “reference to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s paraplegia” said, “I’ve heard a rumor he doesn’t stand for the national anthem.”

Another focus of the rally was pushing back against any measures imposed to control the pandemic. Shelly Luther, who garnered headlines earlier this year when she was jailed for refusing to close her hair salon in defiance of Gov. Abbott’s COVID-19 restrictions, said, “We have a governor that we need to primary out.”
