George Strait Stars in New COVID-19 PSA From Governor’s Office

A new COVID-19 public service announcement from Gov. Greg Abbott’s office features beloved Texas country music star George Strait. In fact, Abbott is nowhere to be seen in the video. It’s just THE King of Country by himself wearing his signature black cowboy hat. He even sings a few bars.

The PSA, dubbed “Write This Down, Take a Little Note,” encourages Texans to practice good hygiene, wear a face mask, and stay 6 feet apart from others in public.

Abbott himself was spotted wearing a face mask in public for the first time at his news conference in Amarillo Wednesday. He entered wearing the mask, took it off to speak and then put it back on before leaving.

Strait is Texas-born. He owns a home in the Texas Hill Country outside of San Antonio. He and his wife have put the mansion on the market for $8.9 million dollars. According to Texashillcountry.com, the property was still available in mid-April. You can take a tour here

Here’s the PSA transcript

Hi, I’m George Strait. We all know that being Texan means being friendly. And as we open Texas back up, it’s important that we stay extra friendly by thinking about all our fellow Texans. So go on, write this down, take a little note, to remind you of these friendly things you can do to help defeat COVID-19. Wash your hands regularly, wear a face mask, and stay six feet apart from others in public. Let’s show the world what it means to be Texan by staying safe and staying friendly.
