Are Texas students safe with these legislators crafting law?

School is back in session in Texas and many parents are still concerned about the safety of their children. Despite the horrific events of Santa Fe High School shooting that left 10 children dead, state officials have done nothing to protect our children. They are all talk but no action. Though Governor Abbott has held roundtables to discuss how to fight against school shootings, little has come from these discussions.
Instead of keeping our students and teachers safe, Texas legislators are passing laws that may endanger our schools. SB 11, which allows concealed handgun carry on college campuses, was passed in the Texas House with 102 yes votes to 44 nay votes in 2015.
Legislators also passed HB 910, which allows for open carry of handguns.
With all due respect, the next time Texas politicians mention thoughts and prayers, they should be told that words alone do not equate to strong leadership and have not kept our children safe. Politicians in Austin need to be held accountable for their actions, not just their words.
