Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and state Sen. Angela Paxton have agreed to unseal records in their divorce case after multiple media organizations sued to make the filings public, according to The Texas Tribune.

An order signed by attorneys for both parties states the court may “restore full public access to the case file.” The order still requires a judge’s approval, and a hearing on whether the records will be unsealed is scheduled for Friday.

Angela Paxton, a Republican from McKinney, filed for divorce in July, citing adultery and stating the filing was made on “biblical grounds.” Shortly after the filing, a Collin County judge sealed all records related to the proceedings. Ken Paxton supported that decision, accusing news organizations seeking access of invading his personal life.

Several media and watchdog groups later filed a plea asking the court to unseal the records. As reported by KUT, the groups argued the filings should be public because Paxton is an elected official and a declared candidate for U.S. Senate.

Ken Paxton has served as Texas attorney general for nearly a decade and is currently running to challenge Sen. John Cornyn in the Republican primary. His finances, which are relevant to the divorce case, have also been central to past misconduct allegations.

While Paxton has faced multiple criminal charges during his time in office, he has never been convicted.
