Austin kicked off the New Year with a spectacular display at Auditorium Shores as 1,500 drones lit up the sky, reported CBS Austin.

According to Joel Johnson, co-pilot of the Sky Elements Drone Show, it was the company’s largest performance in the U.S. this year. “We got the biggest drone show here tonight,” Johnson said. Typically, their shows feature 400 to 500 drones, making this year’s display three times larger than usual.

The drones created stunning illustrations celebrating New Year’s Eve, the city of Austin, and the state of Texas. Johnson noted that the main stage area offered the best viewing for attendees who came out to see the sky come alive.
