Dear North Texas cities, your water might taste like chlorine this month. But, don’t fret, it is still safe for drinking and bathing.
According to The Dallas Morning News, this change comes as the North Texas Municipal Water District changed the disinfectant in its water treatment process through March 29 – a temporary change.
Instead of using chloramine – which is the typical disinfectant – the district will be using free chlorine. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has said this is a safe and common practice for water providers and maintains the regional system and year-round water quality.
