Elon Musk is set to visit Israel in March after accepting an invitation from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, signaling plans for deeper cooperation on transportation and artificial intelligence, reported TRT World.

The premier reportedly met with Musk to discuss Tesla’s ongoing projects in Israel and legislative developments surrounding autonomous vehicles. Expanding AI innovation in the country was also on the agenda.

The timing of Musk’s visit comes amid global criticism over Israel’s conflict in Gaza. Since October 2023, Palestinian authorities report that more than 71,200 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have died and over 171,000 have been injured. The conflict has left much of Gaza’s infrastructure in ruins and forced large-scale displacement.

Despite a ceasefire declared on October 10, Israel continues to restrict border crossings, limiting the delivery of humanitarian aid and reconstruction materials, according to local officials and aid organizations.

Netanyahu faces mounting international legal pressure. In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for him and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, citing charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the Gaza conflict.
