Matthew Dowd Abandons Race For Lt. Gov

Matthew Dowd, the former chief strategist for George W. Bush’s presidential reelection campaign, has announced he’s removing his name from the race for lieutenant governor.

In a tweet posted earlier today, Dowd wrote his decision comes from a place of integrity, as he intends to make way for people with a more diverse background to join the race.

It looks like Texas Democratic Party vice-chair Carla Brailey is planning to enter the Lt. Gov. race instead. An official announcement is soon to come.
