Kirk Watson Announces He Wants To Be Austin’s Mayor, Again

Former Texas Senator Kirk Watson has announced he’s joining the race to become Austin’s mayor in the next November election. Watson’s next move was already filled with speculation, at least since he left his position as first dean of the University of Houston’s Hobby School of Public Affairs.

Watson, who already served as Austin’s top man in office back in 1997 launched his campaign via email this Tuesday, calling on all his supporters to “Let’s do this!”.

According to experts the race to become Austin’s next mayor will be an expensive one, insiders expect the winner to spend at least $1 million dollars in order to get the coveted seat. It’s no surprise that the Democratic former senator already named a campaign treasurer, meaning he’s already allowed to begin raising money.
