Democrat Leo Pacheco Announces He’ll Leave His Texas House Seat in the Next Few Weeks

State Rep. Leo Pacheco from Texas District 118 recently announced that he plans to leave his seat in the next two to four weeks.

According to the Express-News, Pacheco will resign to pursue a career in academia, he will be joining San Antonio College’s faculty to teach public administration full-time.

“It was too good an offer to pass up,” said Rep. Pacheco about his new job.

Pacheco’s resignation means that Gov. Abbott will soon be calling a special election to fill the seat, meaning Republicans will have a chance to turn the district red if Democrats don’t do something about it.
