Ben Bumgarner Wins Texas House District 63 Election

Incumbent Ben Bumgarner has successfully defended his seat in Texas House District 63, defeating Democratic challenger Michelle Beckley.

At the time this article was published, Bumgarner had received 46,570 votes (55.7%) to Beckley’s 37,023 votes (44.3%).

Bumgarner, who received key endorsements from Governor Greg Abbott and House Speaker Dade Phelan, ran on a platform aligned with conservative priorities.

Despite the growing competitiveness of the district due to recent redistricting and demographic changes, Bumgarner maintained his edge by appealing to traditional Republican values, successfully keeping Denton County’s District 63 in Republican hands.

Beckley, a former HD65 representative from 2018 to 2022, campaigned on progressive issues, but was unable to garner enough support to flip the district.

Bumgarner’s win reinforces the Republican hold in the suburbs of North Texas, a critical region in the GOP’s efforts to maintain control of the Texas House.
